I have immense faith in God and that gives me a lot of peace. Never, have I ever doubted His existence. When one trusts Him, loves Him, respects Him and has faith in Him, life becomes easier and also beautiful. I pray everyday and never leave my home without prayers. I have grown up in a religious atmosphere and it’s natural to follow sanskaras that one has seen since childhood.
I have been brought up in Delhi and when I came to Mumbai for the first time I was so lost in my dhun of music that I left my suitcase, music system, everything I owned in the cab.
When realisation dawned a few minutes later, the cab had already vanished. I was upset but thanks to one police officer on duty I got everything back and I believe it’s all His doing. He wanted me to be in Mumbai.
I am thankful to God that he has blessed me with the special talent of music. As such, I easily relate to Him with my music. I am closest to God when I am composing, singing or writing lyrics. I am immersed and totally absorbed in the world of music. It is the most exhilarating and ecstatic moment. I also believe that work is true prayer -- when one works joyfully, one works effortlessly. One should be dedicated and honest whilst working.
Whatever one attains in life is nothing but the outcome of His decisions. The success depends of right decisions taken. I also believe that, God cannot give you an umbrella if it’s raining, He gives you intelligence to pick up one, to save yourself.
It’s a shame what happens in India in the name of religion. A country which is the land of saints and philosophers has to witness such insane killings and hatred. Human beings should learn to be tolerant and love each other. That is true religion.
